Snowy start to the 2026 Season

The official kickoff to the 2026 Seattle PONY season was extra special this year. Families bundled up and arrived at snow-covered fields across the neighborhood. Instead of turning around, kids packed snowballs while parents went to work clearing the fields. The Seattle PONY community would not be deterred.

At Washington Park, the early morning featured Shetland tee-ballers at their first practice, with a mix of sun and snow. Players got a true taste of PNW spring sports while parents warmed up with coffee on the sidelines.

Over at Miller Playfield, a blanket of snow made the Mustang Jamboree a true team effort. Parents grabbed brooms and shovels from home to form an impromptu volunteer grounds crew. They worked in shifts clearing snow and helping their teams get ready to play, while players warmed up with coaches organizing drills around piles of snow.

The Mustang players rose to the challenge with strong infield play and determination tracking down balls in the snow. Batters kept everyone on their toes with plenty of deep shots into the outfield. Between games, the enthusiasm shifted to building snow forts and sharing pizza with familiar faces in new uniforms.

The day was a success thanks to the effort and spirit of parents, coaches, and players. With other divisions just beginning practices, the 2026 season already has a special feel to it.
